She’s from Homer, Alaska, and I’m from Anchorage. I met her briefly a bit more than 10 years ago when she wasn’t big.
In the 70s Bush worked up in Fairbanks in the oil industry. Shit job. He was seen doing cocaine right off of the bar numerous times. There are a ton of witnesses and old coworkers, but no solid proof.
His writing was so ahead of his time. His depression was romantic in so many disgusting ways.
I’ve read most if not all of his poems and stories, and love them all for different reasons. He shaped me as a writer. I may not be as morbid as he was but his talent leaps of the pages and left me with an impression.
